Frank May builds all kinds of wonderful things, from recreating space toy prototypes to life-size Frankenstein's monsters. Like myself, Frank also collects Major Matt Mason toys by Mattel, and it's with these in mind that he borrowed a few designs from Spacex toys to provide additional transport for his favourite astronaut. Scaled up to fit a 1/12 scale toy figure, Frank successfully strives to keep a toy-like appearance to these models.
The MEV-2 (called Lunar Prospector in the Golden Astronaut range in the US) was inspired by Frank finding some fan covers that make perfect wheels. The grabber is from the MMM Power Suit, and works through air-pressure by a bellows just like other MMM toys.
Above is Frank's take on the Nova Rocket, still being finished when he sent the pictures.
And although not based on Spacex, I just can't leave out the picture below. In Frank's own words, "now THIS is a Space Station!"
