Receiving a nice illustration over two full columns, Golden Astronaut toys stand out in a four-page advert by the Grand Way discount market in Elmira, NY. Published 21 December 1971 in the Elmira Star-Gazette, the advert offers coupons with discount prices in the last days before Xmas.

The simple but effective illustrations of toys and astronauts also feature in other Grand Way adverts, which were probably centrally made up by the same graphic studio.
Two months later, the price for single vehicles on card dropped even more as shown in this advert from 19 February 1972 which offers 8 for $1. Published in the Danville News of Danville, PA, the same nice illustrations are used to good effect.

A year later, there was sufficient stock left over to go even lower in price. Two 88¢ sales in February and October offered twelve toys for this very lowest price. Adverts published respectively in the Hackensack, NJ edition of The Record of 18 February 1973 and the Ridgewood, NJ edition of the Sunday News of 28 October 1973.

For Xmas 1973 another coupon sale was published in the same Sunday News of 16 December 1973 with a 12 toys back at $1. Note that the promo start date has been blanked out on this coupon (as were all the others in that advert).

What the adverts on this page alos illustrate, is the vast quantity of Golden Astronaut toys held in stock by Grand Way stores that allowed them to discount at ever lower prices over three whole years.
