This is how the Mobile HQ is attached to the insert: a rubber band is passed through two slots to provide a loop at each end, which is then pulled around each end of the vehicle. The Moon Base pods are attached like this as well. The stains at upper centre show where the Mobile HQ radar dish was once attached with adhesive tape.
